BRIDES…

Have you looked and lusted over friends beautiful and emotional filled prep photos? Or daydreamed about your own prep photos after seeing gorgeous photos on Instagram, Facebook or in mags?

Truth is, everyone can have beautiful scene setting photos, it just takes a little planning and apart of my job is to help and guide you.

                                  

SETTING THE SCENE

Remember, if there’s something that you DON’T want to be seen, put it away. During your prep photos I am going to moving around, capturing you, your bridesmaids, hairdresser, make up artist and anyone else who is there with you, from many different angles and perspectives.

Try to hang your dress somewhere nice before you are ready to put it on. That way your photographer can get shots of the bridal preparations with the dress in the background. This really helps to tell the story and gives context to the photos. I can also get detail shots of your dress hung up. These look great in your wedding album. Another top tip is to make sure you unpackage the wedding and bridesmaid dresses before I arrive so you and your bridal party can carry on enjoying getting ready.

                                     

Pop yesterday’s clothes and bits into one of your bags if you’re getting ready away from home so we have plenty of clear areas.

Create a play list for your bridal prep and have the music on! Enjoy this pamper time with your girls and crack out your favourite tunes!

If possible, choose the room with the most natural and beautiful light to get ready in. Your makeup artist will thank you for this!

THE SHOES, THE JEWLS, THE DRESS…SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING BLUE…HAVE IT ALL OUT!

By having all your accessories and your dress out ready means I don’t need to bother anyone whilst your enjoying getting ready and being pampered, I can just pixie around with my camera creating beautiful pictures whilst you have the best time with your girls. Also remember to have the bridesmaid’s dresses and accessories out to.

BUY MATCHING DRESSING GOWNS

This might be something that you might consider with everything else you have to plan for, but it looks great in your prep photos and adds a lovely touch to the day for your bridal party that makes everyone feel special. Also, a dressing gown or kimono is the easiest clothing to change out of after everyone has had their makeup and hair finished.

     

THE BIG REVEAL PHOTO

Weather it’s your Dad, Mum, entire bridal party…..The reveal photo is super important and you are going to want it to be perfect. The emotion captured when everyone sees you in your dress for the first time is just magical. I love taking these photos with the best light and space for the bridal party, but we can chat and plan this nearer the time when you know where you will be getting married.

BRIDESMAID GIFTS

It’s traditional to give gifts to the brides as a thank you for all of their help with the build-up and planning for your big day. These make some truly beautiful photo opportunities during the prep.

GET INTO YOUR DRESS EARLY

The prep time goes so quick that before you know it, your car is about to arrive, and you haven’t got your dress on yet! By getting into your dress 30 minutes before you need to leave, make sure your veil or hair piece is looking and feeling fab. This gives me that time to capture your bridal party seeing you for the first time, to get some snaps of you and your bridal party and family. It also gives me some time to capture some of the iconic bride portrait shots of just you, looking absolutely stunning, ready to marry the love of your life!

           

FOR THE KIDS

If you have little ones getting ready with you, I love to capture them enjoying the buzz of the prep! If they are a part of the bridal party, have their outfits and anything they might be carrying like a pillow or basket out ready. The natural photos of them getting excited are so cute!

NATURAL LIGHT

Both myself and your makeup artist will love you for any lovely natural light! When your hairdresser or makeup artist arrives, point them in the direction of your best window light for them to set up.

                                  

WRITE CARDS FOR EACH OTHER

With all the planning and hecticness towards the day, it’s easy to forget about a little something for each other. Write each other a card and leave it with the maid of honour and best man to deliver on the morning of the wedding. This makes such special photos AND because your love can’t see your reaction, it’s so lovely to have these pictures to look back on.

HAVE FUN

YES totally! Have all the fun! Crack open the bubbly, eat beautiful pastries and enjoy being queen of the day surrounded by your favourite people.
